Suburban Stitching

Well I have lost my inspiration to stitch and in an effort to motivate myself, there isn't anything more motivating than having to report progress. I have been interested in web logs and have been perusing others in and effort to relight the fire that once burned in my mind and heart to pick up that needle and stitch, stitch, stitch. Oh how tired I would be when the alarm clock rang and I had to get up and go to work. But thoughts of more stitching when I got home raised my flagging energy to propel me to the end of my work day.

How and where I lost my fire is unknown. I think that the closing of my favorite local shop and the demise of several stitch groups I belonged to helped douse the fire. Of course the lack of new and innovative designs on the market today have helped stem my passion also.

The world wide web is a great thing but it doesn't have the same effect as a group of chatty and giggling friends, now does it. And of course the sites can't do justice to those new silk floss colors or that great new cashel linen color. Let's face it, the images on a site can never look like all those inspiring shop samples or the trunk shows. And you can't run into an acquaintance in the aisles of a web site. No more Wendy the shop keeper to greet you as you walk in the door and excited tell you about the great new class event.

Of course pawing thru all my stash is exciting but I want to stitch, not day dream about stitching. The tactile feel of the fabric in your hand and the sensation of the floss dragging through the fabric. The excitement of seeing this one stitch bring the image together and closer to completion. No I want to stitch. And stitch I will! What shall I get busy with now?

I think I shall start the Brittercup Designs "Britty Kitties II". I saw it and fell in love with the kitties because they are different from any I have seen. But I am expecting my Stitching Bits and Bobs order and have purchased the new LA D Da "5 Roosters" and if it comes I am afraid I shall have to stop and start it. LOL!

Well I think I am going to get this together but first a trip to the store, I can't stitch without my Diet Pepsi and peanut butter M & M's. Now isn't that a study in opposites. LOL! Until later, Sandra stitching in Suburbia
